How to make outside Pull-up Bar

Pull-up Bar Requirements
Heavy duty - strong and sturdy enough for at least one person to train safely and with intensity. Weather proof - suitable for outdoor use and will stand the test of time.

Tools and Materials Needed
      1. 2 x 5x5 inch (14x14 cm) posts, 10 ft (3 m) high
      2. The bar – steel tube
      3. 4 inch (10 cm) self-tapping bolts and washers (10 mm thick)
      4. 2 x bag of quick dry postcrete
      5. Estimated 6 - 10 bags of ready mixed concrete (or you can mix it yourself)
      6. Gravel
      7. Fence paint to protect the wooden posts.
      8. Red Oxide paint to prevent the bar from rusting.

Required tools
      1. Spade
      2. Thick paint brush
      3. Spirit level
      4. Long rod or broom handle
      5. Tape measure
      6. Wheelbarrow or bin to mix concrete
      7. Drill with 9 mm and 10 mm drill bit
      8. Adjustable spanner

Building the Pull-up Bar
      1. Mark on the ground 5 ft (1.5 m) apart where you want the posts for your pull-up bar.
      2. Dig square holes 10x10 inch (26x26 cm) ensuring that the marks you made in the ground are in the middle of the holes. These holes should be about 3 ft (1 m) deep for 10 ft (3 m) posts.
      3. Use around 2-3 inches of gravel in the holes to help water drainage and prevent the wood rotting. More or less gravel should be added to make the post heights the same.
     4. Paint the posts with fence paint or wood preserver.
     5. Put posts in hole and make sure they are:
           a. In line with each other
           b. The same height
           c. Flat edges on both posts are parallel
           d. Straight (use a level);
     6. Pour one bag of dry ready mix concrete in each hole around posts and re-check the levels.
     7. Add correct amount of water to the ready mix concrete. Poke the mix with a broom handle or a rod to mix the water into the powder. Make sure you keep the posts Level and Aligned while ready mix concrete dries.

Fix the bar
     1. Measure the exact distance in millimeters between the tops of the posts (where you want the bar).
     2. Clean and paint the bar with red oxide.
     3. Hold the bar where you want it ensuring it's level and mark holes for the drill points.
     4. Wind-in bolts and washers with spanner to fix bar in place and finish the pull-up station!
